This competition is developed on the basis of the 16th consecutive Asian Youth Piano Festival in Hong Kong. The Asian Youth Festival (AYPF) has been held in Hong Kong for 16 consecutive years. The competition is rigorous, fair and open, with a total of more than 100,000 participants, and a group of outstanding pianists have emerged and are active on the European stage. The famous pianist Professor Li Mingqiang has always been the chairman of the jury of the competition.
Every year, heavyweight pianists from home and abroad are invited to serve as judges, including: Professor Wei Danwen of the Central Conservatory of Music, Professor Yang Yunlin of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Professor Zhang Wei of the China Conservatory of Music, Professor Huang Tiandong of the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, German pianists Wang Xin and Florian, Professor Laurenc Patzlaff of the State Conservatory of Music in Freiburg, Germany, Professor Marco Giovanetti of the Bergamo Conservatory of Music in Italy.
